Thinking of buying a new summer hunting outfit? Ridgeline may have just the things…

Outdoorwear for the warmer months needs to be simple, sturdy, versatile and effective. That applies all year round, of course, but the colder seasons allow us to ‘layer’ our clothing and adjust temperature control that way. In summer, we need a reasonable level of warmth, because we hunt mostly at the cooler times of day, but anything too ‘thermal’ will see us steamed up and decidedly clammy in exactly the sort of places where clamminess isn’t required.
The good news is, Ridgeline may well have the very thing we need, although it ‘things’ plural, because two separate products are involved here. They do make a great combination, though, so let’s study them both.
The Norwester Fleece
If ever there’s a garment that could serve us equally well in the pub as it does in the field, it’s the Norwester fleece. It’s made from a hardwearing dark green polyester, with a full-length front zip and elasticated cuffs. Add to that basic features list, a handy high collar to keep the breeze off your neck, a weather-sealed zip on the breast pockets, a pair of roomy cargo pockets and double-stitching throughout. This is the classic ‘zip up and go’ fleece, and should the sun come out and things really warm up, the Norwester can be taken off, folded, and stashed in your backpack until you need it again.
The Stalker trousers
Now for the Norwester’s natural brother in arms, or legs in this case, and worn together they do look like a suit, although the Ridgeline Stalker pants are tailored from a a slightly ‘tighter’ fleece for added protection against thorns and brush.
A bonded polyester fleece and Cordura mix gives a really practical, hardwearing combination of comfort and durability. The Cordura panel in the seat insulates the shooter from damp and provides added protection against the wear and tear of outdoor use, and the ‘relaxed’ fit around the knee means easier walking, without the trouser’s legs riding up.
An elasticated, integral belt is included with the Stalkers, along with belt loops, weatherproof zips on the hip pockets and side vents to keep you cool as you stride purposefull about the countryside. All in all, for £49.99 for the Stalker trousers and just £39.99 for the Norwester fleece, both garments come highly recommended and are well worth a closer look.
