Hampshire airgunners now have a major outlet on their doorsteps

What do you want from an airgun shop? Most of us would like somewhere with plenty of choice, friendly, knowledgeable staff, loads of accessories and the ability to try before you buy. We’ve found somewhere with all of these things and more, in Tackle Up at Fleet, just outside Farnborough, just 10 minutes or so from Junction 4a of the M3.

Tackle Up describes itself on its website as an ‘outdoor specialist’, and you’ll see why as soon as you walk through the doors. Not only will you find airguns from all the big names, including Air Arms, Daystate, Weihrauch, BSA, Armex, Brocock, FX and Gamo, but they’re also backed by a range of accessories from the likes of Hawke Sport Optics, MTC, Sportsmatch, Gerber, Leatherman and Yukon – plus clothing, pellets, footwear, targets, and much more.

Try before you buy

Among the services offered at Tackle Up, possibly the most vital is the chance to get your potential purchase into your shoulder and shoot some targets on the shop’s onsite range. This will also allow you to familiarise yourself with the processes of loading the gun’s magazine, charging it with air, cocking and loading, plus the priceless consideration of how well a rifle fits, of course. These pre-purchase features are important, and the ability to see if they suit your way of shooting is invaluable, but it’s all part of the service at Tackle Up.

Speaking of services, also available on site is an affordable, while-you-wait air tank recharging service, courtesy of Tackle Up’s ‘diver’s air standard’ compressor, plus a chronograph, not to mention the advice of specially trained staff. Ask for Barney or Simon, and if they can’t answer your query, they’ll soon contact someone who can.

One of the features of any top shop, is customer service and the ability to make you feel welcome.
