The British Game Alliance has announced an exciting new competition for under 21s that love cooking with game – or indeed those who wish to use lockdown to learn how to cook game. The Game Chef Hunt competition aims to showcase and celebrate great game recipes and the talent of young people. The competition will be open for entries from 6th January to 10th February.
The Ingredients:
Entries can be any game dish, fur or feather, that you love to cook and eat at home. If relevant (and with the shoot and head keeper’s permission), please let the BGA know the name of the shoot that you enjoy going to most, as a gun, beater, or picking-up with your dogs, along with the name of the shoot’s headkeeper (again, providing you obtain their permission), as they will win a prize alongside the winning entrant.
The Method:
To enter, post a picture of your competition dish, outlining the key ingredients used on any the following platforms: Instagram, Facebook or Twitter, tagging @Britishgamealliance, @DylanPressendye and @RachelCarrieHunting. The closing date for entries is 10th February 2021. Alternatively, entries can be emailed directly to info@Britishgamealliance.co.uk

The Winning Dish:
The top three entries will be contacted for more details of the dish, including how it is prepared and presented. The winner will be chosen by the three judges: Liam Stokes CEO of the BGA; Michael Robinson, the renowned chef and owner of The Woodsman, The Elder and joint-owner of Michelin-starred Harwood Arms restaurants; Rachel Carrie, keen country sportswoman, author and passionate advocate of game. The winner will be announced jointly by the judges on social media on Saturday 13th February.
The winner of the competition will win the following prizes:
- Their dish will be the featured recipe in an issue of Fieldsports Journal
- A 2-hour shooting lesson for two, courtesy of Dylan Williams at The Royal Berkshire Shooting School
- A cheque for £250, presented by Pressendye Limited
- A Schöffel Gilet
